Bermondsey is a residential and commercial neighbourhood in south-east London, between Borough and Rotherhithe. Bermondsey Street runs south from London Bridge through a concentration of independent restaurants, cafes, and the White Cube gallery, with Victorian terraced commercial buildings on both sides. The Fashion and Textile Museum occupies a purpose-built building further south.

The surrounding residential streets are Victorian and Edwardian two-storey terraced housing — the working-class south London residential character that is increasingly compressed by development but remains readable in Bermondsey’s side streets. Spa Road, St James’s Road, and the streets around Southwark Park give the characteristic south London terraced street environment.

For productions, Bermondsey gives south-east inner London residential and commercial character — not the tourist zones of Borough Market or Tower Bridge, but the working-neighbourhood streets that are in continuous use as location backdrops for social-realist drama set in London.
